This was such a refreshing book! I really loved the story and the complexity of the characters. It was nice to read a fiction novel that wasn’t a romance or historical fiction. It was just a modern day story about people living their lives! Even if those lives are excessively dramatic and glamorous.
Gemma Maybrook has a family legacy. The Pavlin name (her mother’s maiden name) is synonymous with luxurious, elegant, EXPENSIVE jewelry. Her great grandfather practically invented the concept of a diamond engagement ring. Her life must be pretty glamorous, right?! Wrong. Gemma hasn’t spoken to her mother’s family in almost a decade, since she was a little girl. But now, on the cusp of launching her own jewelry designing career, Gemma is on a quest to find the famous pink diamond that was her mother’s engagement ring and is now her inheritance.
There are plenty of twists and turns in the Pavlin family drama, right up until the very end! I didn’t love Gemma’s love life as part of this story- it seems irrelevant and took up too much space. I also have my thoughts about Elody’s transformation throughout the story, but I won’t spoil it for you! I recommend this book for anybody looking for a modern, refreshing story with plenty of drama!
