Audiobooks- Yay or Nay?

I have gotten into audiobooks a LOT since I moved to Galveston and have been traveling back and forth between cities a lot! I’ve also had to commute more to get to my rotations. I usually alternate between a podcast and an audiobook- whatever I’m feeling that day! I now find myself throwing in my airpods to listen to an audiobook during walks, while I’m cooking, and even sometimes while I’m doing chores.

I’ve found that audiobooks really give a different experience to a story. I’ve listened to some books that I know I would not have liked as much if I had read them, and I’ve also not enjoyed some audiobooks purely because of the narrator or the flow of the words. It really makes a huge difference! I’ve discovered that there are some audiobook narrators that are actually like super famous and preferred over others?! Which is something awesome that I did not know before. Anyone know how I can become rich and famous by reading books out loud??

The first audiobook I read was It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover- it actually got me back into reading in the first place and I fell in love with it! (And Colleen Hoover) I think my favorite audiobook I’ve listened to so far is Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus; I have a feeling I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much without the personalities that the narrators gave. I also love listening to Taylor Jenkins Reid books! All of her newer novels have media clips or magazine articles strewn throughout, so I love how that comes across on audio.
